Hybrid Creatures

Posthuman Worlds and Modern Bestiaries

Annina Roescheisen and Contemporaries

15 January – 10 April 2027

The exhibition Hybrid Creatures: Posthuman Worlds focuses on the internationally renowned artist Annina Roescheisen and explores the multifaceted connections between humans, nature and technology. In the works of this German-Slovenian artist, organic forms merge with imaginary beings to create hybrid visual worlds that allow ecological, social and emotional issues to be experienced through the senses.

In these challenging times, Roescheisen’s art opens up new perspectives whilst simultaneously providing emotional anchors. Her works strengthen a sense of connection – with nature, with others and with one’s own inner world. Featuring over 70 works spanning painting, drawing, installation, video and performance, the exhibition showcases key series such as ‘Dragons’, ‘Zodiac’ and ‘Earth’, in which mythological, historical and posthuman narratives intertwine. These are complemented by works from other artists who experiment with hybrid bodies and speculative scenarios, devising new visions of what it means to be human.

Accompanying educational and participatory programmes invite visitors to immerse themselves in these fantastical worlds, develop their own perspectives and rediscover art, nature and cultural myths.
