EXIL
KUNST OHNE GRENZEN
21.09.2025 – 15.12.2025
In recent years and decades, many artists have sought refuge in Germany in response to censorship, war, and persecution. Often, they find themselves in particularly vulnerable situations, as they publicly advocate for change in their home countries. Despite Berlin’s reputation as a capital of exile, their works have so far received little attention in museums or gallery exhibitions.
HAUS.KUNST.MITTE. is dedicated to recognizing and showcasing the important contributions of exiled artists within Berlin’s art scene. The current exhibition brings together 17 outstanding artists from nine different countries. The diversity of artistic approaches and cultural backgrounds creates new spaces for understanding. Emerging forms of dialogue reveal a rich, multi-layered network of ideas that transcend borders.
Exile is not only a personal fate—it can also be a catalyst for creative expression. The artworks invite us to reflect on the global reality of exile and its profound impact on both human experience and artistic production. A call to engage with art that knows no borders—and exists in the here and now.
